Connect your devices

Pair two devices like Bluetooth: one shows a QR code and 6 words, the other scans the code or types the words. Files then go straight from one device to the other.

Pair a device

Show a QR code and 6 words on this screen. Scan the code with your phone, or type the words on any other device.

Or drop files anywhere on this page: the code appears right away and they go as soon as your devices connect.

Have a pairing code?

Type the 6 words shown on your other device. The first 4 letters of each word are enough, and you can paste the whole phrase.

No server of ours. The 6-word handshake passes encrypted through public relays that cannot read it. Your files never touch them: they go device to device.

Options: this device's name, a passphrase, and connecting with no relays

Advanced: a network that blocks the public relays can still connect by scanning a QR code each way, or by pasting the codes by hand.

How does this work without a server?

With pairing words, both devices turn the 6 words into a secret topic name and an encryption key. They meet on a few public message relays (MQTT brokers that are not ours) and swap their connection details there, encrypted with that key, so the relays only see random names and ciphertext. Then they connect directly and leave the relays. The 6 confirmation words prove the device that joined is yours.

With the advanced no relay option, nothing touches any relay: the first QR code holds what the other browser needs to find this one, compressed, and the answer QR code carries the same back. You scan or paste both by hand.

Public STUN servers only tell each browser its own public address. They never see your files. If both devices sit behind strict firewalls, a direct path may be impossible; then a TURN relay you add in Settings forwards the encrypted packets without being able to read them.
